Supporting Legislation to Prevent Elder Financial Abuse

Ken Thompson (right), President and CEO of Capitol Bank, recently testified on behalf of the banking industry to combat elder financial abuse.

The Senate Committee on Insurance, Financial Services, Government Oversight and Courts recently held a public hearing on SB 428 and SB 429, the Wisconsin Bankers Association (WBA)-supported elder financial abuse legislation. Along with Ken Thompson, WBA’s Mike Semmann (left) also testified that day. Both bills will help Wisconsin’s banks tackle the increasing problem of elder abuse. Bankers are in a unique position to be able to identify this financial abuse. Any tool or effort that helps bank staff save abuse victims is something we support.
